Jason Payne-James


Jason Payne-James is a Specialist in Forensic and Legal Medicine with a range of research and clinical interests. He is a forensic physician with a background in hospital medicine, predominantly in surgical, trauma and gastroenterological specialties. His published research interests include aspects of healthcare in custody, clinical negligence, torture sexual and physical assault & complaints against healthcare professionals. He acts as an expert witness and gives evidence regularly in civil, criminal, family and coroners’ courts.

Jason is President of the Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians; Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Barts & the London School of Medicine & Dentistry; Honorary Consultant in Emergency Medicine at St George’s Hospital, London; Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Forensic & Legal Medicine.
He has co-authored & co-edited numerous publications including both editions of the Encyclopedia of Forensic & Legal Medicine.
