Solicitor Suzanne Munroe has 25 years’ experience in Clinical Negligence Claimant work. Formerly a Partner within Irwin Mitchell’s Medical Law and Patient’s Rights Department in Sheffield, she joined Switalskis Solicitors in March 2013 and was made a Partner in August 2014 and Director in October of the same year. She now leads their large, award-winning team of specialist Clinical Negligence lawyers based in Huddersfield.
As a solicitor with an established reputation in high-value and complex claims, Suzanne’s practice focuses mainly on birth injury claims. This includes claims relating both to injuries to children, such as cerebral palsy and hypoglycaemia claims, as well as to mothers, including third and fourth degree tear claims and other obstetric injuries, along with stillbirth/fatal claims.
Suzanne and her team have helped claimants and their families secure many millions of pounds in compensation and are particularly adept at securing substantial interim payments on account of damages to provide much needed housing, adaptations, therapy and support to ensure rehabilitation at the earliest opportunity. Over the last two years Suzanne has obtained in excess of £2.2m in interim payments for her clients, often following contested hearings. This adversarial approach to interim awards is something Suzanne is keen to improve upon with the NHSLA and their lawyers.
Suzanne is an accredited member of the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel, and is also accredited by patients’ charity Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA). She is recognised as a Senior Litigator by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. She is also ranked in Band 1 for Clinical Negligence Claimant work in West Yorkshire in the Chambers & Partners UK guide to the legal profession.
She was recently shortlisted as a finalist for the Claimant Lawyer of the Year Award at the Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards 2016 and her team picked up the Dispute Resolution Award in the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2016.
